For the students who have entered the Department of Nursing Science, without much experience of reading, the college library should be a "guide" to knowledge. However, their unfamiliarity of the library and lack in information retrieval skill form a big barrier to the usage of reference materials. In order to understand a rich store of knowledge and carry out researches into their own fields, the students have to know how to use the library effectively. For this purpose, what is necessary? What kind of instruction is required? We have conducted a questionnaire at the time of entrance into college in an attempt to find solutions to the problem. |
